It is to notify all Air Zimbabwe customers who have booked cheap flights to Zimbabwe (flying to Harare, Bulawayo, Johannesburg, Victoria Falls or other routes offered by Air Zimbabwe) that the strike has entered into week II. The conflict between Air Zimbabwe Pilots and the airline’s management is still not resolved for two reasons, firstly as the carrier does not have sufficient funds to pay the pending salaries to its pilots and secondly, as promises won’t work for Air Zimbabwe this time.

Earlier last year, Air Zimbabwe promised the Pilots union to clear their pending payments and actually did clear part of the payment but not full. This caused loss of credibility to the carrier as the Pilots are now too hard to be convinced and negotiations are headed nowhere for both parties. At this stage it’s unpredictable that when the airline will resume Harare flights with full schedules and how long a ticket refund may take.

Here it is worth mentioning that refund cases under normal circumstances can take from four to six weeks in sorting out, while in case of airline cancellations the refund process may be shorter or other alternate options such as rerouting or booking with alternate airline can be sought. Therefore, it is best to contact the airline minimum 72 hours prior your departure and make sure that the flights are going as scheduled.
