Brisbane Sunshine State of Australia

Queensland is the state of Australia. This state is sometimes called as sunshine state and is a major tourist destination in Australia, attracting thousands of tourists including interstate and overseas visitors. Brisbane is the capital of the state and the center of all major political, economic and cultural activities in the state. Brisbane is the most Populous city of the state and the third most populous in Australia. This city is home to a major port of Australia known as port of Brisbane. This port is the third most important port of Australia for the value of goods that are exported including bulk liquids, grains, sugar and coal.

Brisbane is home to many universities and educational institutes including Queensland University of Technology, University of Queensland, Australian catholic University, James Cook University, JMC Academy, University of Southern Queensland and University of the Sunshine Coast. Some of the famous colleges include Australian college of Natural Medicine and Brisbane College of Theology. This city is also home to many theaters and arts centers including Queensland Theater Company, Queensland Performing Arts center located at the south bank. This arts center consists of a lyrics theater, Cremorne Theater, Playhouse Theater and a concert hall.

Tourism industry is one of the major industries supporting the economy of Brisbane. After Sydney and Melbourne it is the third most popular tourist destination. Some of the famous recreational areas include Roma Street Parkland, South bank Parkland, Portside Wharf, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Brisbane Forest Park and City Botanical Garden.

This has a very well developed transportation network not only within the city but also connecting the city with the rest of the country. Public transport includes buses, ferry service and rails. CBD or the Central business District Brisbane is the hub for all public transport. Like all major cities worldwide taxi service is also available but it is a bit expensive choice.

This city is well served by the Brisbane International Airport; this airport is the third busiest airport in Australia after Sydney Airport and Melbourne Airport. This airport serves as a hub for many international airlines and has flights to more then 44 destinations and is also a major airport receiving international flights to Australia and also serves for domestic and international flights to Brisbane. In 2009 this airport was the one with highest votes for the Best Airport in Australia.
