Flights to Resume Between Bogota and Caracas
Roberto Jubguito, president of Copa Alines Colombia, announced that the airline would resume two-daily flights to Caracas and Bogota (on its Bogota-Caracas) starting from 4th July. Mr. Junguito explained that the new development was a part of the company’s new international expansion program relating to connectivity between different destinations while also appreciating and thanking the ambassador of Colombia in Caracas, Jose Fernando Bautista, and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce for assisting Venezuela in obtaining the operating authority.
As reported by an airline spokesman, the operations from Bogota to Caracas had come to a grinding halt in May 2009. With that, the operation permit expired and was not renewed by the Venezuelan government till later.
The president further confirmed that in addition to the new flights, the usual four weekly direct flights served by the company, from the city of Medellin to Venezuelan capital, will remain operational.
In a new development on Sunday, the foreign ministers of Colombia, Maria Angela Holguin and Venezuela Nicolas Maduro, met in Bogota to announce a revival of three flight routes linking Bogota and and the Venezuelan city of Caracas, Maracaibo and Valencia to one another.
