Copenhagen-Bangkok with Scandinavian Airlines
Very recently, the Scandinavia based airline “Scandinavian” has increased its flights to Bangkok. Where many airline, this year, have changed routes to provide more convenient flights to Phuket instead of Bangkok, Scandinavian Airlines has added has added an extra flight on its Copenhagen-Bangkok route for winter 2010-2011. Where many competitor airlines are focusing on providing more flights to Phuket city, the increase by Scandinavian Airlines is said to be made based on indications that this winter will see the highest ever demand for leisure traffic on SAS between Copenhagen and Bangkok.
With addition of these new flights to Bangkok, Scandinavian Airlines frequency will raise from six days a week to daily flights to Thailand. This year, the airline has also achieved its highest cabin factor ever for inter-continental flights. Mr Niels Henrik Hansen, Director and General Manager SAS – Southeast Asia stated on this occasion that a newly streamlined and restructured SAS is now focusing on future growth based on “Core SAS” strategies. Launching more flights to Far East Asia is also one the key strategies that will help the airline grow and expand globally. SAS also operated flights to Thailand from London via Copenhagen and many other cities are also served via Scandinavia to worldwide destinations.
Mr Niels Henrik Hansen, Director and General Manager SAS – Southeast Asia further said:
Our Q3 results announced last week show SAS made major improvements in underlying earnings. It was only special ‘non-recurring’ items such as the volcanic ash cloud that kept us from profitability. Everyone can see and feel a new spirit and direction at SAS. We are once again optimistic about the future.
He emphasized that the “Core SAS” strategy is based on streamlined organization, reduced cost base, a stronger capital structure, and intensified customer focus aimed at business travelers with strengthened commercial offerings for all categories of passengers from around the globe.
