Flights with Air New Zealand – first ever flat bed economy introduced

New Zealand’s national and flagship carrier Air New Zealand (NZ) also known as ‘the Kiwi carrier’, has taken economy class seating to a whole new level by introducing flat bed economy seats in its new aircraft Boeing B777-300ER.

According to the airline’s CEO, NZ’s new and first Boeing B777-300ER, will be featuring this new-generation flat bed economy class seats. This much anticipated aircraft will arrive on Christmas Eve and other than the new economy Sky Couch product, it will also offer one of a kind business and premium class seats.

Air New Zealand’s CEO Rob Fyfe has also expressed that he will be onboard the Boeing 777-300ER inaugural flight to Auckland that will be flying on December 22nd 2010, from Boeing’s headquarters in Seattle via Los Angeles to Auckland arriving on 24th December.

This is the first ever and one of its kind inventions that will allow economy passengers to recline horizontally however the success of this new Sky couch product can only be determined after the commercial launch of Boeing 777-300ER.

Mr. Fyfe stated, explaining the motive behind this new trend:

Being a relatively small airline from a small country, innovation is at the heart of our business,”

He further added:

The challenge I set was to find a way to allow economy passengers to sleep, without changing the configuration of the cabin or changing the dimensions of the seat,” says Fyfe.

He also says he wanted to deliver the best aircraft any airline has ever seen.Air New Zealand is the only direct flight provider from Europe to New Zealand and also offers flights to Sydney, Australia and other regional and domestic connections in Oceania.
